At Van Paassen Chrysanten in Andijk, a new greenhouse has been put into use: an innovative, two-layer cultivation space for chrysanthemums. Green Simplicity supplied the climate system, the LED installation and the software. Everything is fully geared towards a stable, energy-efficient cultivation of the crop.
New, innovative cultivation space for Van Paassen Chrysanthemums
Jan and Fred van Paassen are progressive chrysanthemum growers with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability. For their new location in Andijk, where they were awarded 'Most sustainable entrepreneur' in 2024, they were looking for an efficient solution for growing chrysanthemums in multiple layers. Their wish: a system that offers reliable climate conditions, independent of the outside air.
Our solution:
Green Simplicity realised a two-layer cultivation space of 995 m22.. Each layer has its own climate control controlled by an air handling unit. The system consists of air distribution hoses, humidification and an energy-efficient air handling system per cultivation layer. The air is distributed precisely via ducts and hoses and can be cooled, heated and dehumidified using heat pumps. The control is via a central software solution with which Van Paassen has full control over the indoor climate.
Stable cultivation with less loss
The chrysanthemum cultivation at Van Paassen now takes place under stable conditions and in two separate climate zones. This ensures less loss in the cultivation. Due to the efficient use of the chosen technology, the system also works energy-efficiently and sustainably. Exactly as befits an entrepreneur with the predicate 'Most sustainable'!
