Achieving a stable and uniform climate in the greenhouse was a major challenge for tulip grower and propagator De Wit-Schouten in Andijk. Green Simplicity helped them find a sustainable and fully automated solution: the Dry+ Climate climate control system.

Desire: a stable, energy-efficient indoor climate for better tulips

De Wit-Schouten, a tulip nursery and forcing facility, wanted a stable indoor climate with low humidity (RH). However, their traditional system, which involved heating outside air and removing humid air through the air vents, continuously disrupted that climate. This resulted in cold spots, higher local RH levels, and losses due to sweating and tipping. The inconsistent indoor climate also meant that the crop did not grow uniformly, requiring more labor. Finally, this system also consumed a lot of energy, which was undesirable given the rising and uncertain gas prices.

Our solution:

We supplied the Dry+ Climate system as a plug-and-play total solution for climate control. With this system, De Wit-Schouten can now not only dehumidify, but also heat and cool. The customer only needs to enter the desired humidity and temperature, and the system takes care of the rest. Thanks to ductwork and air distribution hoses, the climate is distributed uniformly throughout the entire department. Humidity is the leading factor, and RH and temperature are monitored 24/7. This system can also be linked to the existing climate control computer.

Well organized

Shortly after installation, De Wit-Schouten noticed that there were significantly fewer issues and that the system required minimal attention, as it regulated itself. This tulip grower is also straightforward: if it works, it works. This provided clarity during the implementation of the project. Any improvements were immediately discussed and implemented. Since then, the system has been running smoothly for several years, and they conclude that “there have been no problems whatsoever, such as sweating or tipping in the crop.”
