For Jungle in France, Green Simplicity developed a multifunctional vertical farm with multiple cultivation lanes, for the cultivation and production of herbs. The farm was delivered turnkey, including irrigation, climate and a flexible cultivation system for all growth stages.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple crops and growth phases in one space<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jungle, based in Ch\u00e2teau-Thierry, was known as one of the pioneers in the world of vertical farming. In addition to high-quality herb production, the French company also developed its own cultivation recipes and produced raw materials for the cosmetics industry. In order to enable different crops and growth phases within one space, Jungle was looking for a system with maximum flexibility and precision. Green Simplicity was called in to make that happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Our solution:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Green Simplicity delivered a turnkey vertical farm, fully equipped with construction, LED installation, irrigation trees, irrigation systems and climate technology. The system consists of four layers with two lanes per layer. This construction of eight separate cultivation lanes in total provided the desired flexibility. This made it possible to control the different crops and growth stages simultaneously within one cultivation space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customized irrigation for cultivation and production<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the large-scale cultivation and production of multiple types of herbs, we have applied various irrigation methods. For example, one of the eight cultivation lanes is equipped with a spray boom for the germination and cultivation of the young plants. This spray boom is multifunctional: it can also irrigate an ebb-and-flow table when the plants are at the end of the cultivation phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Optimized climate per cultivation lane<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The climate and air distribution are also tailored to the different crops. After all, each crop and phase requires a certain air speed. By varying air distribution hoses and amount of air movement, a suitable microclimate has been created in each cultivation lane. The flexible container system brings the cultivation tables to the right zones, making efficient and continuous production possible in one cultivation space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multifunctional, flexible vertical farm<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the integration of irrigation, light and climate in a smart and scalable design, Jungle was able to carry out all phases of cultivation in one space, from germination to end product. The system thus offered maximum utilisation and high crop security and enables year-round production of stable plant material. Unfortunately, Jungle went bankrupt due to external factors, rising interest rates and energy prices. The vertical farm is now active at a new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
