About Green Simplicity
Wessel van Paassen is the founder of Green Simplicity, he is a grower’s son and keen student.
Wessel grew up with horticulture. During his toddler years, the love for and knowledge about plants was initiated and continued to develop while growing up. As he grew older, also another passion developed: technology, and how it can be applied to horticulture.
Courses
Eager to expand his knowledge, Wessel first studied a Middle-Management Training (MBO) for Cultivation Specialist and Entrepreneurship at the Wellant College in Aalsmeer. After graduating, however, he was triggered to continue studying. Therefore he went on with a Horticulture and Arable Farming Bachelor Degree at HAS University of Applied Sciences. Within this degree, Wessel specialized on Crop & Farm Management (Plant physiology). He has conducted a lot of research on LED-lighting in horticulture during his studies.
Due to this strong combination of practical experience and studies, Wessel looks through the ‘eyes’ of the plant and combines this view with technology. For that reason he became interested about LED-technology: Wessel saw the influence of LED-lighting on plants, and became curious about its possibilities. The correct light recipe for the right plant represents an enormous potential for the grower.
Wessel believes applied plant research should be accessible for every grower. Growers understand their crop like no one else and they will only be convinced after seeing the results with their own eyes. LED-lighting can contribute a lot to horticulture, but the grower will not simply believe that. Rightly so.
For that reason Green Simplicity developed LED solutions with which farmers, growers and breeders can get to work themselves. Wessel developed growing systems which are easy to use for precision experiments with LED-lighting.
